what Bigsby vibrato will fit my Gibson Les Paul?
I would like either the gold or gold and black one if applicable. it has stock everything and is a Gibson Les Paul Standard.
gibson uses a bigsby b7 on their les pauls when they come stock with a bigsby, but…and this is a big but…replacing the stop tailpiece with a b7 means drilling holes (the bigsby b7 mounts with screws) into the top of your guitar, as well as screw holes near the end pin. doing this will devalue your guitar.
the good news is there is a way to mount a bigsby on your les paul without drilling holes, and you can mount either a b7 or a b5. there is a company called vibramate that makes a product by the same name (link is below).
the vibramate mounts on your les paul using the stop tailpiece stud holes (both for the b7 and b5) and the endpin hole (b7 only), and the bigsby mounts on the vibramate. no screws in your guitar.
i have a bigbsy b5 with the vibramate on my les paul and it works flawlessly.
typically gibson les paul standards have chrome hardware, and les paul customs have gold hardware. i would get the bigsby that matches the current hardware on your guitar.
both the bigsby (b5 and b7) and the vibramate come in chrome (well, aluminum) and gold.
