Can I put Fender Texas Special Pickups in any guitar?
I don’t have a fender, but I love the sound of Texas Special pickups, and I think have seen people play with them in other guitars, but I am not positive.
Technically, you could put just about any pickup in any guitar, given your willingness to make the necessary modifications. If you are looking for a drop-in replacement, you would need to have a guitar that is currently equipped with pickups having the same form-factor as the Texas Specials. Keep in mind that positioning (including angle) relative to the bridge and neck plays an important part in how a pickup is going to sound in your particular guitar, not to mention differences in body and neck contour, weight, and finish. If you want to try them, see if you can find a pre-owned set on eBay or Craig’s List, so you are not putting out too much money for something that may not work out for you. Best regards, Dana
