Fender Electric Guitar Help!!?
Hey, okay, I was thinking of getting a Fender Starcaster. Does anybody know anything about them? Like are they good? Bad? Thanks so much, I don’t know much about guitars as in all the name of all the parts and technical bits by the way

You pretty much get what you pay for when it comes to guitars… The market is very competitive. The performance you get will generally match the price you pay.
The tuners on this lowest “Starcaster” model are the type that can’t be tightened and the guitar won’t stay in tune very well. Stratocaster style guitars aren’t the best at staying in tune to begin with. Buying one of a little higher quality is definitely recommended. I’m sure the Starcaster is plywood which can warp much faster than solid wood and doesn’t sound as good. The pickups are super wimpy and “dead” sounding. The fit finish and setup can be rough on these, making them hard to play.
If it’s all you can afford… it might be better than nothing. But, I’ve found if a beginner’s playing doesn’t sound good to him / her… or like what you hear in recordings… even when you get something right… the beginner will just lose interest and never learn to play. I do not agree at all with people who say a beginner doesn’t need a decent instrument. Unfortunately, decent musical instruments are not dirt-cheap. Just tell your parents they’re lucky you’re not asking for a piano… lol.
If you can somehow afford it… or save up longer (it would be well worth the wait)… I would highly recommend the following gear for a relatively inexpensive setup that will deliver excellent sound, have the punch and clarity to play all music styles convincingly and stay in tune reasonably well. The guitar has a solid wood body and the neck and hardware are far better than what’s on a Starcaster. The amp has built-in amp modeling, giving it great versatility for any style of music. It also has a few built-in effects that make playing MUCH more fun and give you the ability to recreate many guitar sounds you hear in recordings…

You’d also need a good tuner, some medium picks, a cord and a strap if you want to play standing up.

Most electric guitars come with .009 gauge strings installed and they should be replaced with the same when they break or become “dead” sounding. Otherwise, the action and intonation on the guitar would need to be reset for a different string gauge…

A pro setup is not a bad idea for any guitar. Lower-priced guitars leave the factory playable, but not tweaked to perfection. A setup done by a pro can improve sound quite a bit and make the guitar “play like butter”.
