Between a Fender Jazzmaster and a Fender Jaguar which is better?
As in comparison what are the pros and cons, the difference in sound etc because i am hoping to get one of these guitars in the near future, just not sure which
Ian, although both guitars have very distinctive and recognizable sounds, the Jaguar features a short 24-inch scale length with 22 frets, whereas the Jazzmaster has the more customary 25 ½-inch length with 21 frets. Depending on what you are used to playing, you may find the closer-spaced frets on the Jaguar to be more difficult to finger chords, especially if you have big hands. Both guitars have the rounder 7 ¼-inch fretboard radius, which may or may not be to your liking. The Jaguar does have an extra tonal switching option, but the Jazzmaster (in my opinion) has a richer sound that lends itself well to overdrive. The bridge and tremolo arrangement on these guitars is a very poor design (again, in my opinion), that can cause the instrument to shift out-of-tune with even conservative whammy maneuvers. If you decide to go with the more striking appearance (once again, in my opinion) Jaguar, I would recommend the HH version, which will give you a fuller sound and no floating bridge problems. If possible, try to play each guitar before you make a final decision, as there are substantial differences in both tone and playability. Best regards, Dana
