  What Elixir acoustic guitar strings should I use?
  

  I’m a beginner at guitar and the one I got has very horrible strings.
  I have a Epiphone, so I guess I’m going for the phosphor bronze kind.
  >>>But should I get light, custom light, or extra light?
  Open to any suggestions.

  [ btw, I got my guitar last year, so I'm not sure if Gibson was making the Epiphones at the time. But I'm more worried about string quality and will not be purchasing any other guitar. ]

  I agree with Lester on some points except the Phosphor Bronze Strings. These strings do help in bringing out the maximum tone of any guitar. Big difference in sound unless the person is deaf.

  As for the size of the gauge, the lighter gauge strings offer a better action, more mids and highs, and less pain after hours of playing.
  Custom light gives you lots of bottom such as , more bass, and lots of hihs. The mids are lessened.
  Extra-light gague are the closest to the electric guitar in the sense that, it is the easiest to play and do pull-offs, hammer-ons, slurs etc….

  Epiphone is made by Epiphone and the company was acquired by Gibson. Be aware that it won’t matcvh the quality of even the cheapest Gibson. But, it is still a decent guitar.
