Taking my guitar on an Easyjet flight?
I’d like to bring my electric guitar from the UK to Spain. Is it possible to take it on board with me instead of them putting it with the rest of the luggage? I really wouldn’t like to put it with the luggage since it’s a gigbag (padded material, not a hard case) and it would most certainly break.
Any experiences or answers?
It’s a Jackson dinky, so it’s not huge.
Whilst Easyjet do allow some musical instruments to be taken aboard, using the hand luggage allowance, a guitar would probably be a little too big.
This is what their website says -
“Musical instruments will only be permitted to be carried in the cabin (as the one standard piece of hand baggage allowance) and placed into the overhead locker if space is available and strictly subject to the Captain’s discretion. The instrument including its carry case must not exceed the dimensions 30 x 117 x 38cms. Instruments which fit into this category include violin, viola, piccolo, flute, clarinet, bugle and trumpet.
Any instrument which exceeds the dimensions 30 x 117 x 38cms must be checked in as hold baggage, subject to the relevant fees. The maximum weight for any single piece of baggage is 32 kgs”.I know musicians who regularly fly around Europe with guitars & double bass, on Easyjet, without problems but they do have hard cases. Would it not be possible to perhaps borrow/hire one?
