How do I use my Boss Effect Pedals?
Okay. My uncle gave me like, 7 boss effect pedals for my amp and guitar. I have the metal sounding one, the delay thing, a distortion pedal, and other kinds and a bunch of those cords. As you can tell, I know nothing about them other than the amp emitts a really loud “BZZT WAH” noise if i try to use them. No, they are not broken. The lights light up, but I can’t get them to work. I’ve plugged one side into my guitar and the other into my amp, another way that failed is plugging my guitar into my amp and then plugging a pedal into my amp. And I am not a complete retard, I do plug everything in BEFORE i turn on my amp. (: So, if you could like, give me very detailed instructions on how to make these things change my guitar sound, that would be great.
Just try one pedal at a time. Turn all the knobs on the pedal off (to the left) plug your guitar into the input (usually right side on Boss pedals) of the pedal and the output from the pedal (usually left side) into the amp. Turn everything on and then turn up the knobs on the pedal. Clicking the button on the top of the pedal with your foot should bypass the effect. If that doesn’t work, try the Boss web site and see if they have a diagram you could look at.
Once you’ve tried the individual pedals, you can string them together by going from the output of one to the input of the next. Also, some amplifiers have an effects loop. If so, you plug your guitar into the amplifier directly then hook the amps effects out to the input of your first pedal and the output of your last pedal back to the effects loop in.
Oh! As for what the different effects do, the Boss website has sound clips and samples you can listen to.
