Is my transmission fixable?
I have an ’88 Chevy Silverado with an automatic transmission. One day, i was pulling out, and while taking off in Drive/overdrive (can’t remember) I noticed that as I pushed in the pedal, the truck didn’t seem to respond fully, the only way I can describe it is as i pushed in the gas, it felt like i was braking slightly, although i was still revving up. Then, i heard a loud CRASHBANGBOOM (or something like that) and Reversed it to a parking spot. I got my dad to come out to check the problem out. I put it in drive again, and got about 50 feet before another loud CRASHBANGBOOM from the transmission. Now I have 1st gear and Reverse, but no Drive / Overdrive. My question is, is the transmission fixable? I have a transmission waiting for about 300, but i’d rather fix it. any more info just ask.
sure it’s fixable but usually they take your tranny and send it in to get rebuilt and they get a rebuilt tranny from the same place in exchange and put it in your vehicle.
