dimarzio pickups?
i’m looking at getting some dimarzio pickups for my ibanez s and i can’t decide between the evo2 and steve’s special for the bridge, and the air norton and tone zone for the neck. someone help please?

I agree that you should go with the Evo 2 in the bridge, it is an amazing pickup, harmonics are so easy and it sounds nice and tight.
For the neck I’d recommend the Air-Norton. The Tone Zone is actually quite a powerful pickup, but the main reason people don’t like it is it has a lot of bass response, and in the neck this could make it muddy. Since the S-series is mahogany bodied you’ve already got solid low-end, and the Air-norton gives you a more traditional neck humbucker sound. It should also give you great articulation for fast alternate picking and sweeping.
John Petrucci of Dream Theater, probably one of the most technically proficient guitarists today used a Steve’s Special (bridge) and Air norton (neck) set-up in his signature guitar while he was endorsed by Ibanez. However, his model had a basswood body, which has different character than mahogany, which is why I recommend the Evo 2 in your case. The good news is that if you buy from a store, Dimarzio has a great exchange policy if you don’t like the sound of the pickup.
