Digital Effects, effect pedals, with an amp???
I’m kind of new to playing guitar, all 100% self taught. I’m at the point now where I’d like to buy a decent amplifier, and speakers. Obviously I’d like to get something that I know how to use. I know about brand names like marshall, bogner, peavey, etc, but not the details of each. My question is, what exactly do you get with a head and cab? I see most have 2 or 3 channels, with mid, treble, bass, gain, and then some have “presence” and others have “depth,” and reverb. What kind of sound can I get out of these without effect pedals??? I see live bands sometimes in my home town that they can go from playing brown eyed girl to something godsmack with a little tuning and messing with the amp. So how do you do it without pedals, if you only have 3 channels? They can play 40 songs (perfectly, with the right effects) a night using 1 maybe 2 pedals, wah, and their amps. How?
i have a suggestion, go to guitar center without the intention of buying anything. Try everything you can get your hands on. You wouldn’t believe what you will and won’t like. Most equipment you have to know, spend some time with. However there are something things that you will find, that you can tell were built for you. Here is an example. Gibson Les Paul black beauty. I picked one up once. It played itself….it was….amazing. As far as amps go? Get yourself out there and start testing them, eventually you will find the one that is meant for you.
