An electric guitar or an acoustic ?
I now have a Synyster Schecter Custom and I love the guitar but it is suited mostly for metal. I’m deciding whether to get an acoustic or another electric guitar (preferably a les paul or sg). Any advice?
If you were to get another electric then it’s personal preference as to what you get. I’ve owned both a Les Paul and an SG and to be honest I miss neither of them. I found the LP to be too fat on the body for me, the SG on the other hand was very nice but I didn’t use it enough to warrant keeping it. They might be great for you though, it’s all down to personal opinion
Anyway, onto the point in hand, you already have an electric. The tone can be modified to suit other purposes on the guitar or via effects pedals so I wouldn’t say you’re limited to metal with it.
Hence I’d definitely go for the acoustic. I don’t travel anywhere without mine. Get an electro acoustic though so you can still record stuff with it and play live without having to be mic’d up (like I do!.. it’s annoying!)
Then the question is Steel strung or Classical acoustic? Well that’s a tricky one. I have both because I love both! My steel strung one is for general everyday use, taking to parties, having a jam, bbq’s etc etc.. and the classical I use almost entirely for recording as it’s just so beautiful.
