Can an Ibanez guitar produce a hard rock sound?
I have an Ibanez RG guitar with a cheap chinese combo amp. I also have a pretty good multi effects pedal. My current settings are:
Compressor: 2/9
Drive: Marshall Stack
Gain: 10/10
Bass: 16/18
Mid: 4/18
Treble: 18/18
Chorus: 1/9
A bit of reverbAlso
For guns n roses Slash’s “oohey” solos I turn the tone down and use neck pickup and for rhythm guitar i use the bridge pickup. Is this right?
Please tell me if that will get kind of a hard rock tone.
The Ibanez RG series is capable of killer rock and metal tones Except the cheaper models which have humbuckers that are not as good as the more expensive models. The cheaper models come close but just don’t make the grade. If you love the way your RG plays and want to upgrade your bridge pickup there are many options to explore. Seymour Duncan, Gibson, EMG and Dimarzio have great pickups to upgrade to. It all depends on the seriousness of your playing? If your just getting started Then the setup you have is good to noodle around on. You might want to consider dropping the bass and treble a little and add more mid range and set your gain at about 3/4. Try losing the chorus and reverb for rhythm playing. I had an RG550DX Back in the day It was an awesome guitar to say the least. The necks playability was second to none! Remember that Processors are great for many things but they can never be as good as a standalone tube amplifier for achieving the perfect tone. The secret is in the Amp and Cab setup not so much the guitar as some may think. You can take the crappiest guitar put a good pickup in it and play it through a marshall half stack and it will rip!
