Can I put classical guitar strings (nylon) on a steel string guitar?
Can nylon strings handle the smaller tuning pegs, typically found on a folk guitar?
Why would I do this?
Nylon strings are easier on the fingers than steel strings.Why not simply buy a classical guitar?
The fretboard on a classical guitar is much wider than a folk guitar. Also, the fretboard is flat, making bar chords slightly more challenging.What’s the point?
The idea is to make a guitar much more playable for a beginner with very small hands.Will nylon strings ruin guitar’s bridges?
First of all, a guitar only has one bridge. Secondly, I don’t see how a bridge, which was originally made to support steel strings could get “ruined” by strings which are softer and have less tension.no, the lack of tension cause the neck to warp and the intonation will be off.
