Which is easier,an electric or a classic guitar?
i actually like to play metal and rock, but my father insisted to start on a classic first..even the shop clerk wouldn’t sell me an electric because he claims that its difficult,so i bought a classic…..but i find it difficult to shred,or play solos on it….and also i find it hard to change between strings when i play an arrpegio or sweep picking,i always hit the wrong string……….the only thing iam good at so far is playing power chords……so will the electric be easier than the classic? and is it about time to buy my self an electric? i’ve been playing the classic for about 6 month
Hello there,
Are you certain you mean classical guitar and not acoustic guitar? Does your guitar have 3 nylon strings? If not, you don’t have a classical guitar.
Which is easier to play an acoustic or an electric guitar? Age old question usually brought up in context of which to start and learn on. The acoustic is more forgiving because your mistakes and technique errors are not amplified. However the electric is easier to play because the strings are usually thinner gauge, the set up is lower and the volume is amplified. There is merit to both sides of the argument. However, the bottom line is that you can learn on either guitar. So, you should start with the one you most want to play. Why waste money on a guitar that you do not really want.
I cannot imagine how you can shred on an acoustic or classical guitar. That is pretty much the venue of the electric guitar. Getting an electric will not make it easier to sweep pick. Hitting the wrong string is a matter of practice. Whichever type of guitar you play, the technique is the same. You need to work on your technique. If all you are good at is power chords, you have a lot of work ahead of you, no matter which type of guitar you play. Power chords are about as basic as they come.
If you want an electric, work and save your money to buy one. However, just getting a different guitar will not make you a better player. You need to work harder at learning technique.
