Can I use a guitar effects pedal for recording vocals?
I have a boss ME-50 and I was just wondering if it was safe to run a mic through it, use its effects, and run a cable from it to the computer. I know that there are certain damages that can take place when the wrong instrument is plugged into the wrong object, such as a bass being plugged into a guitar amp (blows the speaker).
I don’t plan on using it for live gigs, since I have a feeling it would cause major feedback. I just want to make recording vocals a little more interesting. I have a feeling that there’s no risk, but I just wanted to make sure.

It is safe to do this but it probably will not work too well. A guitar puts out more signal than a microphone and the pedal may not work too well with the low level microphone signal. It is worth a try though – it won’t hurt the mic or the pedal.
A better way to get effects on your vocals is to get an inexpensive FX unit and connect it to your PA system:
