Acoustic guitar neck?
I’m building a guitar for a friend and i have everything for the body. I need a neck and he doesn’t want to spend $200+ on just the neck. Can I take a neck from a Washburn WD10 and put it on the one i”m building? The reason why we chose the Washburn is because it comes with a bone nut and saddle for me to use. I would like to use a neck block from stewmac.com, but i can machine a blank if needed
Providing that the neck is the correct scale for the body, it should work. Most likely, you will have to take the bridge off and make sure it intonates correctly with the new neck. It looks like the Washburn WD10 uses a dovetail joint. The neck may not be a pefect fit due to the wood drying a bit over time, but it should get in there. The joints for acoustics are fairly standard. So, just double check the scale of the neck and the body and make sure that they match. It will be a bit of work to remove the Washburn neck and then place it on the body and then of course installing the bridge. Make sure the measurements are correct.
IM not sure why that other guy wasted his time typining anything. Im glad he loves rosewood fingerboards… yippee!
