What do I use for this guitar?
I want to put strap locks on my gibson SG but I found that the hole near the neck is too big for the regular strap lock button screws. The existing (non locking ) strap button is on the top left corner of the plate on the back. Are there any strap locks that have one small screw and one big screw that will fit in that hole/button, or should I make the hole smaller and use the smaller screw in the locking kit?? If so, how do I make the hole smaller and mostly importantly, will having a small screw there (instead of the larger one that it came with) affect how the neck and body are bolted together.??
It won’t affect the guitar body at all. It’s best to take it to a guitar luthier, but you can cut up toothpicks, and stick them in the hole with a little wood glue, then put the strap lock on. It should hold.
