pickups for a telecaster?
i am gonna buy an fender standard telecaster mexican and i thought i might improve the pickups once i get it.
i have looked at some and have seen that emg do one called emg T ( http://www.emgpickups.com/displayproducts.asp?section=Guitar&categoryid=13 ) i also have seen the fender texas special customs ( http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/fender-texas-tele/12238 )also if you know any good pickup combos then let me know
btw i play alot of types of music ranging from guns n roses and acdc to arctic monkeys but i do not play blues or countrythanks!
oh i forgot i am willing to spend about £150 which i think is about 200 dollarsWell first of all, the EMGs are active pickups so you will have to replace the whole system, pickups , pots , switches , everything. And you will have to power it all with a 9 volt battery. The texas specials are good but if you don’t play blues or country you probably won’t be happy with them. If your into G&R , AC/DC and stuff like that you would be much better off with a short scale guitar with some good humbucking pickups. I would suggest a Gibson SG or Les Paul style guitar. There are some good copies out there in the same price range as the Mexican Tele. And although they aren’t short scale you might want to consider a Tele or strat with some humbuckers already installed. It’s totally up to you but considering the music you play I just think humbuckers would suit you better. You can get a Mexican Tele and have humbuckers installed but that will cost you a lot more than just buying a guitar with humbuckers already in it. Besides , like i said , a tele is a longer scale guitar so it will never get the G&R or AC/DC tone that you’re looking for no matter what pickups you put in it. Hope I helped a little . Good luck!
