how do u replace a standard nut with a locking nut ?
is it possible to do that because i found a dean dimebolt with black finish an dlightning bolts on musiciansfriend.com for $299, and wanted to put a floyd rose in it. And whats a floyd rose without locking nuts?
Also how do u put in the flyod rose or i mean how much does it cost to get a pro to do it?
Is there already a tremolo system in the guitar?
If so, most guitar techs are going to charge you between $50-$150 to install it.
If it’s a hardtail (no tremolo), then you’re looking at $300+ to route out the body and install.
It’s real easy to fall into the trap of buying an inexpensive guitar, and then adding on to it to the point of spending more than getting a better guitar with the features you wanted.
Case in point…had a guy bring me an Ibanez a couple of years ago that he picked up up for around $500. He wanted it tricked out just like a Steve Via Universe. After routing out the cavity to allow the bar to be pulled up, adding another pick (more routing), re-doing the inlay, re-fretting and scalloping the fingerboard, and changing out the electronics he could have bought the Via guitar ready to go for about $200 less than he spent with me.
If you’re sure that you’re not going to want to resell the guitar later, do what you want with it. Otherwise, I don’t think I would spend a whole lot of money on a $300 guitar.
