Would a P-bass pickguard fit on a strat?
I’ve almost finished my strat project, and I’m looking to do something a bit different with the pickguard. I like the shape of the P-bass guard, so I’m looking at getting a blank guard, then drilling it to fit my strat.
I know nothing about basses, I’ve never even picked one up.
Would a P-bass guard fit? (Around the neck, plus not hanging off the sides of the guitar obviously)Hello there,
I have never tried that combination. I doubt if it will fit very well without a lot of modification to the pickguard. The bass is larger to accomodate the longer scale length neck and has a wider neck pocket. I would also guess the control holes are farther back than the cavity on the Strat. So, no I doubt that you could use it without some modifications.
A Jagmaster style pickguard would be a closer match. You could always get a sheet of pickguard material and cut the shape you want.
