Guitar Rock band amplifier???
what kind of amplifier should i get? we have 2 guitar one bass and drums. i have a micro amp wich is really quite. what does the head amp do if it doesnt make noise? for effect or what? does it plug to the amp? thanks
Just wanted to add my two cents…
A 100w solid state amplifier is more than enough to gig with, if it’s driving a 4×12 cab. I know cuz I’ve done it.
A 50-65w tube amplifier is more than enough to gig with. 100w tube is usually verging on too much for most events.
In general, the more speakers you drive the more defined your sound. My buddy’s 100w Marshall solid state head doesn’t get any louder when plugging a second 4×12 into it, but it does get a more defined sound… it’s called “pushing air”.
If you can afford a tube amp, I’d get one. They’re louder, they sound better, and .. well, I’m all for better tone. Plugging a pedal or multifx into a tube amp will give you a much better tone than plugging the same thing into a solid state amp.
