Is the whammy bar on an electric guitar suppose to make the bridge move a little?
i got a new fender starcaster. and when i put the tremolo arm in n tried to move it, it seems 2 work but is it suppose to make d bridge move?
i need help with dat please. thanx =)
Yes the bridge is supposed to move, on some guitars more than a little. The entire purpose of the bar is to move the bridge up away from the body when the bar is pushed down (diving) and down to the body when you pull up on the bar (up bend). (Note some guitars are not set up to allow up bending) Diving shortens the distance between the nut and the saddles which slackens the strings lowering their pitch, and up bending lengthens the distance which increases the tension, and thus the pitch.
