Why isn’t my car’s amp working?
I have an Autotek 1500w street machine amplifier with 2 12″ alpine type r subs. Everything was professionally installed by best buy. when i left, every 30-45 min the amp wouldnt turn off (the green power light is always on when the head unit is on) but the backlight under the autotek logo would turn off and the subs would stop for about a minute or two. Over the next few days, the length of time the subs would consistently play shortened as the length of time they wouldnt play and the backlight was off lengthened, and now the backlight wont come on at all and therefore will not power the subs. There are no blown fuses, no wires shorting the circuit, and it isnt my battery (I’ve checked all these). What could possibly be going wrong and what can i do to fix it?
It sounds like the amp is bad or the turn-on lead wasn’t used and a constant or accessory wire was used instead. I’d go back to Best Buy and get them to look at it. Also, Autotek isn’t the best amp. Good luck!
