My old Peavey Renown 212 combo amp started making an intermittent WOOOOP sound. Ideas?
Okay, I’m an experienced guitarist, sound man and engineer, but I’ve never heard of this before;
I’ve been playing through this old Peavey 212 combo with scorpion speakers for years with no problem, but lately, every time I turn it on, I get this occasional WOOOP and then it goes away, only to surprise me a few moments later with the same noise. I’ve checked my guitar, effects chain and all the normal stuff to no avail.
The sound comes and goes, only lasting for a moment or so. Very low frequency, not like an amp squeal. It seems to be getting worse. It’s a solid state guitar amplifier.
If anyone can tell me what this is, and what to do, it will save me a lot of time taking it apart and trying to trouble shoot it. (I guess I’ll just have to use my cliche marshall stack to practice with now. Boo hoo.) Thanks in advance!
Sorry but it could be anything, reverb tank wooo is from vibration and is high pitched.
