American Fender Stratocaster doesnt sounds the same?
I have an American Fender Stratocaster. I just put new strings on the guitar today and the low strings mainly E,A, and D have a metal kind of buzz, twang mainly to it. Do the strings need to break in because before it was a warm mellow sweet sounding tone that came from them strings.
Hello! It is always best to keep fresh strings on your guitar, which will not only maintain a consistent tone, but will also stay in tune longer and have better intonation. If you looked at the bottoms of the strings that you replaced, you would see little flat spots where they contacted the frets; these indentations, along with body oils and other contaminants, will cause strings to lose their audio fidelity. A better way to get the warm, mellow sound you like is through a combination of pickup selection and tone adjustment, plus amplifier and effects settings. Of course, you could also consider either “pure nickel” or “flat-wound” strings, which will give you a warmer tone right out of the package; however, they are more expensive and less-available, and would still not be quite as mellow as your well-worn originals.
