Is an acoustic guitar safe to check on a flight?
I want to bring my acoustic guitar with me on my trip to Jersey from Michigan. Is my guitar going to be safe in a regular unpadded guitar case? Or are they going to throw it around and damage it? It’s a $700 Takamine that I bought a few months ago, I would hate to risk it’s life!
I would certainly not check a nice Takamine on a flight in an unpadded case. A few years back I was permitted to take my Ibanez a/e on board and the flight crew was courteous enough to put it in the coat closet where it was secure there. I just picked it up on my way out of the aircraft during deplaning.
I would highly recommend getting at least a soft-padded gig bag for your Takamine.
